“So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, … and they came” (Ruth 1:22)
Ruth was not Naomi’s only daughter in-law. Orpah went home to her own family, people and nation. Imagine what kind of funny names Ruth’s family would have called her: ‘Useless girl, foolish girl´. Don’t follow people because of what you think you can get. Follow them because of the star you see on their forehead. The wise men almost missed the star that was guiding them to the savior because they went into Herod’s palace. They felt that because he was an influential and wealthy King, he was in a better position to know. They were wrong!
They became more confused. Immediately they entered Herod’s palace, they lost sight of the star. Likewise, you are not in your own local church because of what you can get from your pastor. You are there because of the star. As you serve him diligently, your harvest time will come to you as a pleasant surprise.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord, let me never lose sight of the star in my local church, in Jesus name, Amen.
