“…will thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?” – (Acts 13:10 b)
David asked God a question in Psalm 79:10 “…shall the enemy blaspheme thy name forever?” in other words, is it possible to live a life that displeases God forever? Do you continue to disobey God all your life?
In Acts 13:6-12, Paul and Barnabas met a sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-jesus which was interpreted Elymas in the city of Paphos. In verse 7, the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus desired to hear the word of God and he sent for Paul and Barnabas but when Elymas heard of the meeting, the Bible says he “…withstood them, seeking to turn the deputy away from the faith.”
This means he opposed the apostles because he did not want the deputy to believe the word of God, he did not want the deputy to believe God.
Then Apostle Paul, filled with the Holy Ghost looked on Elymas and called him a child of the devil and an enemy of all righteousness. Anyone who turns people away from the faith, who drives people away from the church of God is tagged by the Bible according to Acts 13:10 as a child of the devil and an enemy of all righteousness. Many young people today are turned away from the faith by friends who push them to lies, stealing and fornication, many workers are turned away from upright living by their coworkers who lure them to bribery, corruption, etc. There are men and women who are possessed by the devil with the mission to turn you from the faith. Be watchful and vigilant, do not be misled by such people because they will end up like Elymas.
Paul placed a curse that took immediate effect on Elymas. He said in verse 11 “…thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness…” In this last days, this same thing that happened to Barjesus will happen to them. If they don’t go blind physically, they will go blind spiritually, they will continue to wander in the wilderness of life.
Prayer/Confession: Lord, In Jesus name, visit every person on assignment to turn me away from the faith. Cause them to be blind, cause them to wander in the wilderness.
